Interactive essay masquerading as an online questionnaire

Overview

A Thesis Compendium is a proposal for a graduate thesis that appropriates the form of a quiz. In reality, the content of the essay is presented through the questions, and the response options are part of the essay’s internal dialogue. The quiz repeatedly breaks the fourth wall to question the relationship between the user and object in design.

This questionnaire represents the first of several chapters for the thesis proposal. To read the remaining text, the user fills out an additional questionnaire that determines the design of the document. The user must then print the document to read the full essay.

The site begins by welcoming the user and presenting an initial question. The response to this question does not affect the outcome of the experience.
As the essay proceeds, the answers to questions become increasingly bizarre.
Eventually, the answers become part of the essay’s primary text.
The secondary questionnaire lets users generate a document for the full essay. This document will either generate as a book (multiple pages) or a poster (single page).
